DRESS FORMS and MINI TEA CUPS and TEA POTS!

Dress Forms......

I think we all pretty much love them, don't we? So much so that Carol over at
The Polka Dot Closet decided to have a Dress Form Party!!

What a grand idea!!

I have a few.......

This is Minerva.......

She is a wicker dress form that I bought several years ago in a Consignment Shop.

I had recently purchased a lace dress at a Costume Shop on clearance for a mere $5.00 and I knew the wicker dress form would be perfect for the dress....

After Christmas, I tea dyed this beautiful lace dress because it was stark white. I wanted to give it a more aged look. I think that I will again try tea dying it to change the color to a more beige....

I made the hat and OOOPS!!
You can see the styrofoam ball I use as a head.....

The darling little tea cup pin was given to me by Martha of Martha's Favorites when I won one of her giveaways.....

The black bow was actually a hair barrett.....

I bought the parasol on Ebay....

I used peach accessories because Minerva usually lives in my peach Living Room except at Christmas time....

And at night, there is an uplight underneath her......

My second dress form is a seamstress one that I bought at a yard sale for a mere $1.00!

I have this one in my bedroom with my wedding gown displayed on it....

I did not want my wedding gown to look like a wedding gown so I sort of disguised it a bit by adding a hat, a shawl and a pink scarf....

The pink scarf was a yard sale find....

The pretty flower pin was gifted to me by my friend, Rose Marie, who passed away before Christmas.

I also displayed some other pins on this dress form....

And gloves and a fan of course....

The ruffle at the bottom of the gown....

I think it beats having my wedding dress stuck in a bag up in the attic, don't you?

I have a few other smaller dress forms in my bedroom also.....

This is a paper mache dress form that I bought in a Thrift shop and decoupaged wrapping paper over ....

And then added a vintage bracelet as a necklace....

And I also have a dress form jewelry stand in my Bedroom.....

I have displayed one of Joe's Grandmother 's vintage beaded collars on it....

And I do have another dress form jewelry stand in the Guest room.....

I just love mini Tea Sets....

Isn't this one so cute with the red cardinals in it???

I thought it would be a perfect match for my Winter Bird House tree in my kitchen....

And we celebrated my Birthday on Sunday with a pizza and wings party....

Can't really say that for Joe now, can I??? LOL!

Having all of my family with me is ALWAYS the best Birthday gift anyone could give me!

Thanks so much to everyone who wished me well. I am feeling okay but still not myself and I still get that pain and bloating after eating. As I mentioned before, I see a Gastroenterologist on the 16th so I am just waiting.....

I do need to apologize to those I Follow if you do not see your blog on my Blog Roll. I am having trouble updating it and then I thought starting over would help . But I could not list any names on my Blog Roll after i deleted it. I was able to list some this morning but then Blogger stopped letting me do that. I am still trying to list the remaining names...... Does anyone know anything about this???

THE REST of WINTER and VALENTINE'S DAY DECOR 2012!!

Today I am sharing the rest of my Winter and Valentine's Day decorations with you.

I will tell you this is going to be a rather long post so grab a cup of Tea and pull up a chair.....

The Den

This is my 4th Valentine's Day tree that I am sharing today......

Once again, I left up the 4 foot tree in the Den and re-decorated it for Valentine's Day....

I changed the bow to a burgundy velvet one that has an embossed floral design on it.....

The ornaments on this tree are hearts, of course. Many have a toile design along with some burgundy hearts and beige ones too...
I bought the blue and burgundy toile hearts many years ago and I use them in this room because I normally have red and blue transferware displayed on my hutch in this room.

I also left my church ornaments on this tree......

Plus I added other blue toile ornaments......

And red tranfserware tea cup and tea pot ornaments......

And a cherub or two......
I left the ivory rose beaded garland on the tree from Christmas....

You can see I left he burgundy roses in the tree too....

I removed the burgundy tree skirt used for Christmas and wrapped the base of the tree with 2 ivory doilies....

I decorated the base with a burgundy heart box and a pair of gloves that I embellished.....

And all lit up....

Also in the Den.....

A heart wreath that I made years ago on the Storage room door.....

A winter pillow on one of the chairs.
The heart pillow stays out year round.....

And another small winter pillow on the other chair.......

This is the view from my computer chair looking into the Kitchen through what used to be my Kitchen window......
I left up the winter evergreen garland here....

And Nelson Crest, my Victorian Doll house is Decorated for Winter....

There is snow outside of Nelson Crest but no snow here in this part of PA.!!

My hutch is decorated for Winter....

At the base of the hutch, I added some snow men to my Bearington Bears.....

The Kitchen

I do have a tree in the Kitchen but it is a Winter tree........

I hung a cute heart pillow on the hutch.....

And I also showed you my straw berry tea and toast set that I was gifted to me by my good friend Anne Marie, along with all the other Strawberries in the Kitchen.....

I have Valentine candy on my Candy Bar......

Love these sweet Heart Cookie magnets on my hood....

Valentine towels.....

I left up the evergreen garland where my Kitchen window used to be and added heart ornaments to it....

Hearts on the Chandy....

The cute Bear ornaments was given to me by my sister....

And, you know I was going to show you it all lit up....

My vintage rose hot pads fit right in with Valentine decor.....

And some Valentine bowls and tins on the top of the refrigerator with a little snowman holding out a heart....

More hearts added to the evergreen garland above the counter bar.....

I replaced my copper molds that normally hang on the walls on each side of the pass through with heart ornament Kitchen molds......

And these bottle brush trees were bought after Christmas at Target several years ago.....

A bowl with hearts on placed on a heart plate to hold Joe's chocolate candy......

The trees came with the red bows and birds and I added mini heart ornaments to it.....

The Powder Room

I did not take down my Snow Buddies after Christmas, just removed the Christmas ones and replaced them with Valentine Snow Buddies .......

I added some red hearts to the tree and hanging from the shelves...

And on the shelf above the sink...

" The Queen of Everything"

Now in these next to pictures, can you see the blue lights????

Remember those sets of LED battery operated lights that I bought in Target after Christmas???

I bought a set of blue ones for this tree because I was never able to add lights to this tree because of a receptacle not being near by.....

You get the idea, right?

Well, that is all of my Winter and Valentine's Day decor. All of this will stay up now until the end of February. I do keep up all the Valentine decorations because Feb. is Heart month and I do not decorate for St. Patrick's Day as there is not much time between Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day and Easter....

I want to thank everyone for your well wishes. I am feeling a bit better and was put on some medication. I do have an appt. in 2 weeks with a Gastroenterologist because my family Dr. is thinking Irritable Bowel, Colitis or Celiac disease. These are all in the group of what is considered auto immune diseases and may explain my positive ANA titer that gave me a tentative diagnosis of Lupus 2 years ago.....

So I will have to wait and see and I am sure it will mean more tests.....

LIVING ROOM VALENTINE'S DAY DECOR!

In my last post, I mentioned that I was not feeling well for over a week. I was still experiencing left upper abdominal pain after eating so I ended up going to the ER on Sunday. I have been there and done that so many times than I care to mention and I knew my Family Dr. would say " Go to the ER because you need a stat CT of the abdomen." So that is what I did and that is what they did and it was negative......meaning no tumors or any of the terrible things I was thinking could be wrong....

So now I am going to see my family Dr. on Wed. and see where we go from there. I can eat but now the pain is around to my upper back so heaven knows what could be the problem......

Edition- 1/31 1pm- I see some of the comments that have been left so far ask about my gall bladder. Yes, that is long gone 6 years ago and the pain and discomfort is the left side not the right side where your gall bladder would be.....

Because of all of this going on , I am going to postpone my Second Blog Anniversary Giveaway a bit until I am feeling a bit better. Hope you all understand.

Anyway, I do have all of my Valentine's Day decorations up and today I want to share my Living Room with you....

This is Valentine's Day Tree #3.

If you missed my post on my Dining Room decorations and Trees # 1 and 2, please click HERE.

I left my 7 foot Living Room tree up after Christmas and added 4 sets of red, frosted white and clear lights to it along with one set of red lights.

The bow for the top of this tree is made of a red velvet ribbon embossed with flowers....

This tree mainly has a red and gold theme for Valentine's Day. It is decorated with red beaded garland and various heart ornaments......

I have also used several different types of gold cherub ornaments on this tree, along with some Victorian Emphera ornaments....

Red velvet roses are stuck into the tree.....

We removed the platform that the Dicken's Village was on for Christmas .......

Here is the tree all lit up.....

At the base of the tree, I left out my very dapper looking snow man in a sled and added several of my Bearington Bears.....

The tree stand is wrapped with a piece of red velvet fabric that I bought at a Thrift Store and the heart box under the tree was a red velvet candy box that I embellished.....

I also placed several heart boxes and a cute Valentine's day doll that I bought at Jo Ann's many years ago.....

On my Victorian style chair next to the tree, I have another heart candy box that I embellished, another Bearington Bear and a Victorian style doll......

Moving around the room now.....

This is an arrangement that I first used for our Harvest Tea at Church several years ago and my theme was Nutcracker Suite. I used a lot of red and gold so I thought the red roses and gold leaves would fit right into a Valentine's Day Theme.

I placed a cute little cherub flanked with 2 red mercury glass votives on this stand too...

And I filled my apothecary jar with some red ornaments bought at the after christmas sales and pink and white roses that are actually rose soaps from the Dollar Tree!!

Red hearts hanging on the front door....

And a sweet heart shaped Valentine's Day slate hanging from the pediment.....

There is a cute Valentine's Day plaque that I bought at Ross for Less last year on the hutch along with ( which you can't really see) greenery with red velvet roses on top of the hutch.

I added red velvet rose garland going up the steps.......

I used the same ribbon for this bow as I did for the bow on the top of the tree....

There is also red, frosted and clear lights on the garland....

And lit up at night.....

After Christmas, I brought Minerva back downstairs.....

There is an uplight under Minerva's dress form.....

And on the marble table next to Minerva is a Valentine's Day angel, a heart box and vase.....

Looking into the Dining Room, see the hearts hanging on each side of the curtains???

Another one of those red velvet rose and gold leaf arrangements in my bowl and pitcher....

A red heart ceramic box on the table....

A Valentine's Day wreath and another slate hanging on the mirror....

Another heart box on this vintage table....

And more red mercury votives.....

Faux candy and cupcakes, perfect for Valentine's Day.....

More heart wreaths on the mirror in the Hall way......

So that is the Living Room decorated for Valentine's Day.......

Today is my birthday....54 years old!! Yikes!

I just happen to be off tonight. I usually always have to work on my Birthday.

Because of my health issues right now, we will be having a little celebration on Sunday.

When I got up last night to get ready to go to work, there was a dozen red roses in a vase on the Kitchen counter and a card from Joe.....

I know, he is a keeper!

VALENTINE PINKS in the DINING ROOM 2012!!

So sorry that I have been missing in action lately but since last weekend , I have just not been feeling well.
I thought I might actually be making a trip to the Emergency Room but I am feeling better now.
If my S&S of left upper abdominal pain flare up again and I am still not up to par, then I will need to go and have it checked out. I have been there and done that so many times before that I dread the thought.....

Anyway, I did manage to decorate the house for Valentine's Day.

I am going to share with you my Valentine's Day decoration in the Dining Room.

I have pretty much stayed with a Pink and White theme for Valentine's day in this room.

I left up my 7 foot Slim tree after Christmas and re-decorated it for Valentine's Day. This is the first of my 5 Valentine's Day trees ........

I left all the lights on this tree including the white and pink clear rose lights. I did add a set of red, pink and white heart lights.....

I am actually amazed at how many Valentine's Day ornaments I have.......

I used a bow at the top of the tree made out of pink ribbon that has a gold sheen to it.....

There is an ivory lace tree skirt and 2 cute heart boxes at the base of the tree.....

The ornaments on this tree are different style hearts.....

I also stuffed white velvet roses into the tree.....

And few chocolate candy ornaments....

Cherub ornaments.....

These white lace ornaments with the tassels I bought several years ago at Lowe's on Clearance for 75 % off and they cost a little over a Dollar a piece......

I used pink beaded garland.....

And I had made ornaments out of tags several years ago.....

On my windows that I hung to divide the Living Room from the Dining Room , I have hung hearts too....

Here is a heart that I made........

The large heart at the top is from Micheal's several years ago.....

And I also made this one....

Of course, I have to show you the tree lit up at night.....

I just love the glow of a tree at night....

Then I also have another tree in the Dining Room.....
This is Tree # 2......

This is a white feather tree decorated with heart ornaments that I placed on top of my Melodium.....

I made a bow for the top out of pink glittered ribbon bought at Micheal's at Christmas....

And more Victorian style heart boxes are around the base....

And I added some heart ornaments to the Chandy along with pink rose garland......

Can you see the gold hearts with the little crystal hearts handing in the center.....
These I bought at Target several years ago after Christmas.....

And I decorated my buffet.....

Again, I stayed with the pink and white theme....

The picture frame is from the Dollar Store and I put a pretty Valentine's Day tag inside of it....

Faux candy and pastry are perfect for Valentine's Day.....

And my little stand between the buffet and the hutch.....

Once again, you know I cannot resist showing you the buffet at night.....

Also the 4 inches of snow that we received last Saturday was pretty much gone by Monday as we have been having rain and temps. in the high 40's!! Unheard of for Jan. in these parts.....

I started this Blog 2 years ago on Jan. 28th as a Birthday gift to myself ( the 31st is my Birthday) . Ginger of Glitter and Roses, whom I met on another site, talked me into starting a blog. My 3rd post was a post for Pink Saturday and it featured my Victorian Doll House , Nelson Crest.

Never did I think that 2 years and 246 posts later, I would have not one but 2 blogs.

And that I would have over 350 followers here on Debbie-Dabble and over 200 followers and 94 posts on A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!

I have made so many friends here in Blog land over these last 2 years, both that have blogs and those that do not! Blogging has been one of the best things that has happened to me and how can I ever THANK all of you for joining me on this journey!

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!

Soon I will be telling you about a Giveaway that I will be having on both of my blogs to celebrate so stay tuned.....

WINTER DECORATIONS 2012!

I finally have Christmas completely packed away from the down stairs....I still have the upstairs to un-decorate for Christmas...

I will be decorating for Valentine's Day this weekend. It will be the perfect weekend as we are predicted to get 3-6 inches of snow Friday into Saturday. I worked on Friday night so after 2-3 hours of sleep in the morning, I will be ready to start on Valentine's Day decor.

Update Saturday Morning at 9:00 am- I just slid, I mean drove, home from work.....
They must think no one goes to work on a Saturday because they just started to plow the roads!!

Here is what my back yard looks like now.....

About 4 inches now and it is not supposed to stop until about 1:00 pm.....

And the front....

Back to decorating...

I leave up several trees and decorate them for Valentine's Day but I also decorate my Den for Winter with snow men and skaters....

Here are some pics of my Den decorated for Winter.....

As you can see, all the Christmas decorations are down and everything is pretty much back to normal....

I moved my Thomas Kinkaide Winter church and house from under the 4 foot tree that was on an end table, to both sides of the TV..

The 4 foot tree will soon be decorated for Valentine's Day....

I love these houses lit up...

Next is the top of my computer armoire....

I spend a lot of time in the Den as this is where my main computer is ( I have a lap top too) and on the nights that I am off and do not have to sleep before going to work, when Joe is watching his hockey games, I let him watch them on the big TV in the LR and I sit here in the Den...

I left out several larger bottle brush trees and the 12 inch white tree was bought after Christmas on Clearance at Target...

As you can see I used several Snowman items.....

I filled the snowman canisters with some loose snow like crystals.....
Joe got me the snow man tea pot using his comp points from the casino...

Wanted...One Magic Hat...

I just love that.....

And this jar lights up.....

Here in Penna., our winters can be quite dark and gloomy so I love the way rooms look lit up with candle lights and the lights from trees.......

Then I decorate this cupboard also for Winter....

This is the top of the cupboard....
Again, I used a large bottle brush tree and another white tree and I moved the tea pot and pitcher out of the Guest Room where I had them on the mantle , decorated for Christmas....

I love the winter scene on the tea pot and matching pitcher...

I also think the design on the clothes of the 3 children figures look like lips so I left them out for Valentine's Day/Winter decorations...

This little resin plate has a nice winter scene on it too....

And there is another snow man candle light in this vignette....

I removed the Christmas things from the hutch but left some bottle brush trees and skaters and snow men....

And of course, I love it lit at night....

Then I decided to leave up this alpine tree. I removed the Christmas snow men I had on it ....

I decided to redecorate it with crocheted snowflakes and clear plastic icicles and snowflakes that I had on my Guest Room tree for Christmas....

So this is now my Winter Snow and Ice tree...

And of course, a bird and a pine cone ornament at the top.....

I love how it looks all lit up.....

I will let you in on some plans that I have for the future......

I painted the Den 0ver 12 years ago so I think it is due for a repainting. My plans for the summer is to keep the same blue below the chair rail, paint the walls above the chair a deep beige and add a border up by the ceiling. Blue is a cool color and the beige is a warm color so it will cozy the room up a bit more...

I also want to paint the vintage cupboard a nice ivory and decoupage music sheets to the inside back. And I want to paint the 2 end tables in this room ivory but leave the tops wood stained. So this room is one of my projects planned for the summer....

Another project is repainting our upstairs bathroom.... I am sure Joe will be running for the hills.....

In my last post, I hinted at having a tree in the Kitchen and it was not my Candy and Ginger Bread tree that I had there for Christmas.....

I moved the 2nd Alpine tree that I had on the Dining Room Buffet at Christmas into the Kitchen and placed it in a basket with red cardinals painted on it....

I decorated it with a few birdhouses and bird ornaments.....

And stuffed some Buffalo Snow in the tree....

See the nest at the bottom of the tree....

Next to it, in a copper urn , is another small tree, creating a forest effect...

Well, okay....I tried to create a forest effect.....

Just because Christmas is over, it does not mean that you have to put away all of your trees...

Those of you who have read this blog and my Christmas blog know that there is never less than 2 trees still up and decorated year round in my house.

After all, they now make ornaments for all Holidays and all Seasons .......

So why not keep the magic of a lit Christmas tree year round in your home....

All of these ornaments were bought after Christmas on Clearance....

So that is my Winter decorations.....

Stay tuned for my Valentine's Day Decorations which will include 5 more trees.....

Yep. you read that right....

Actually, this is an easy way of not having to take down 17 trees and pack them away and all of the other Christmas decorations through out the entire house at once.....

My Winter Decor will stay up now until the beginning of March......

I also have left up my Snow Buddies in my Powder Room but will be adding some Valentine's Day Snow Buddies and hearts to that room so I will be sharing the Powder Room with you in a later post......

STRAWBERRIES in the KITCHEN !!

All of Christmas is taken down and packed away in the Kitchen now. I have to finish taking Christmas down in the Den then the entire downstairs will be done and I will start decorating for Valentine's Day.

But in the mean time, I thought I would show you what the Kitchen looks like now.

I set up this little vignette on the Hutch.....

I have a lot of Coca Cola items in my Kitchen along with tea pots and many other vintage things.....

My Birthday is the end of this month and when we visited my friend Anne Marie a few weeks ago, she gave me my Birthday gift from her......

She had wrapped up in cellophane a beautiful Gift Basket but in my eagerness to open it up, I forgot to take a picture of how beautiful it looked. I could really kick myself.....

The Tea pot and the 2 Tea and Toast sets are what she gifted to me along with French Vanilla Tea, Chocolate Chip Dipping Cookies, Strawberry Jam and the Adele 21 CD ( which I LOVE)!!

I do have some of my Valentine's Day candy out and the little cup cakes and pies are actually ornaments!

Every thing is back to normal now with Christmas put away....

I did keep the bowl of cookie cutters out.....

And of course, I have to get my candlelight shot in......

I don't know if when Anne Marie picked out the Strawberry Tea Pot and Tea and Toast Sets, if she realized how many things with strawberries I have in the Kitchen....

Just had to show you that I am using a vintage juicer as a candy dish for Joe's Candy.....
Everyone who knows us knows that Joe loves his candy.....

I might as well show you the other side of the counter bar.....
I keep my ID badge and all of my pens for work in a vintage refrigerator container...
This is what they used before Tupperware.....

I did not realize all the strawberry items that I have in the Kitchen either.....

I wanted to show you the pass through from the Kitchen into the Den which used to be my window.....

I left the garland up after Christmas as I will be hanging some hearts from it soon....

I bought the mercury glass candlesticks at Wegman's Grocery Store after Christmas on Clearance.
I decided to place my two vintage yellow fiesta ware tea cups and saucers on top of them.

I left my vintage utensil ornaments on the chandy and added a cute ornaments about Sisters that my sister gifted to me....

And in staying with the tea cup theme , I placed a wire tea cup filled with a set of 20 white lights on top of a red vase......

I also added some coca cola glasses on this shelf......

And of course, lit up.....

This is how it looks as I am sitting in my chair by the computer in the Den.....

You can see into the Kitchen.....

I will give you a hint...There is still a tree on the side of the Kitchen Hutch and it is not a Valentine's Day tree.......

A VICTORIAN AT HEART.........

I am slowly putting away Christmas, as my back problems have reared it's ugly head again.
I have Scoliosis , nerve involvement and now arthritis down my entire spinal column.

But life goes on.......

For this post, I decided to go back to what makes my heart sing.....

I am a Victorian at Heart!!

I have many new followers and I would like THANK them and all of my followers and anyone who takes the time to visit with me , for granting me the privilege of sharing my life with all of you!

My 2 year Blog Anniversary is the end of this month so stay tuned for news on Giveaways I will be having on both this blog and my Christmas blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!

Before I start to decorate for Valentine's Day and then Easter and now that Christmas is put away, I thought I would share my most Victorian Style room with you, my Dining Room.

Many of you have seen this room before but many of you maybe have not......

I know many of you like the pared down, simplified style......

I subscribe to the true Victorian philosophy of More is More not Less is More....

This is a Home Interiors Picture titled " May I Play?"

I collect Tea Cups......

This shelf is another Home Interiors piece that I bought on Ebay......

I decided to keep these tea pot picture ornaments out after Christmas and display them here....

The first one holds a picture of my Mom, then my Dad holding my son , Jim , and the last is my Dad holding my son, Joey.

I hung these curtains over the pass through from the Kitchen to the Dining Room because I did not want to be able to look into the Kitchen and vice a versa.

The curtains were bought at a church flea market . The beads are Christmas garland.....

The candlesticks were bought at Salvation Army....

More tea cups above the door way to the Kitchen.....

You may have guessed that I am not fond of white walls....I LOVE color!

Now please do not get me wrong. I love white in other people's homes but honestly, I would get too bored with all white very quickly!

I now have 2 working cameras...

If you remember my one camera that I bought 6 months ago would not download pics to the computer or delete them?

After buying a new camera, a slightly better version than the other one, I decided to switch the memory cards and guess what?

Same thing happened in the brand new camera!! It was the memory card!! I have now sent that back to Lexar and I am awaiting a new one!

So I now have 2 cameras but that is okay.......

I love the way the room looks at night ........

OUTSIDE WINTER DECORATIONS 2012!

After hauling Christmas decorations back up the attic, I aggravated my existing back problems and had to start taking my muscle relaxant which knocks me for a loop!! So I now have to take it easy for awhile. because of pain radiating down my right leg. Not too hard because I am so tired from that muscle relaxant I could probably fall asleep standing upside down in a corner!!!

Since I can't do too much of anything but sit around, I finally got this post done.

After New Year's, we changed over the outside Christmas decorations to Winter decorations.
A long time ago, I used to watch the Lynette Jennings Decorating Show on TV and that was where I first heard of decorating for Winter and keeping up some of your Christmas decorations but changing them a bit.

This is how my Front Porch looks now, decorated for Winter.......

After Christmas, I bought several of the snowflake ornaments at Target that you see on the garland. They came in packs of 4 and for half price , were only 50 cents a pack!!

I left all the white lights on the garland and added the white snowflakes and a few other winter like ornaments .

This is my Winter Wreath on my Front Door.

I wired a pine cone wreath that was a yard sale find several years ago to an evergreen wreath.
I made a bow out of raffia and hooked on this metal " Let it Snow " sign.

I left my childhood sled outside.......

This " Welcome to the Warming House" sign was bought at Target several years ago on Clearance.....
and of course we have to have Penguins for Joe.

I left out the penguin with the "Let it Snow" sign and the cute bird was moved on top of the milk can......

I added a Winter Scene slate and a jingle ball with pine cones on top to the hook stand that stays on my porch year round.....

You can see that I added the snowflakes to the garland around the railing.......

I took the poinsettias out of this basket and left the greenery and pine cones behind and added a bird house and a cute metal bird......

OOOPS!!
Joe was looking out to see what was I doing outside when I snapped the picture......

Okay, here is a pic of the front porch minus Joe!!

The large snowflakes hanging from the garland were bought at the Dollar Store several years ago....

You can see by the snow shovels on the front porch that we are ready for snow....

And you can see by the Ice Melt on the front porch, we are also ready for Sleet and ice......

I took the wreaths off the windows and added light up snowflakes....

I kept the candles in the windows....

Changed the mini flags to Winter ones from Christmas ones.....

I was disappointed that we had a green Christmas this year. I always like a bit of snow for Christmas. Growing up in the 60's and 70's, it seemed like we always had snow for Christmas back then.

The ski resorts in the Pocono Mountains of Pa. are not doing too good with it being such a warm, snowless Winter here. But I always say that Mother Nature corrects herself so who knows what we will be in for before Spring comes....

MY ONE LITTLE WORD FOR 2012

Here we are again at the end of another year.

The beginning of a New Year is like a Butterfly emerging from a Cocoon, the birth of many new possibilities.

Last year, I chose One Little Word that I would focus on for the entire year of 2011.

That word was HAPPY.

And for the most part, 2011 , was a Happy year for me.

My family and the TIME I spent with them made me HAPPY....

Blogging has made me extremely HAPPY.

Working night shift and sleeping weird hours, I do not have a lot of TIME for building relationships but through blogging, I only need to turn on the computer and many of my friends are just a mouse click away.

I did get quite a few projects done around the house like painting my Kitchen, which I had been trying to get to for over 5 years.....

Even though Joe insisted that I almost killed him doing it.......

LOL!!

I also finally found a border that I was HAPPY with and put it up in the Guest Room.....

I did get to create some interesting things which always makes me Happy......

And my Victorian Style Crafts always make me HAPPY when I am creating them.....

Finding great buys at the thrift stores, flea markets and yard sales made me HAPPY...

We did work on our back yard all summer as I wanted to try to create a little Cottage Garden in my back yard.

I was really HAPPY with how it came out and I enjoyed spending time out there until it got really hot......

Another thing that really made me HAPPY was buying a new pillow top mattress even though we are using Joe's Grandfather's antique bed that is now as high as a table!!

My poor back is much happier with the new pillow top mattress!!

And of course, I decorated for Holidays and the different seasons all year like the crazy woman that I am and decorating always makes me HAPPY!!!

And of course, Christmas Decorations always make me HAPPY!

I spent some time with my friends by attending events with the Victorian Group that I belong to like Tea's at the Stegmaier Mansion...

Then we had several Get Togethers at our home with friends which really make me HAPPY...

Then I had my 5 year check up and remain Cancer Free and that made me extremely HAPPY!!

So for the most part, I was HAPPY for 2011.......

In looking back at the year and at my Post on what made me HAPPY, I was realizing that some of the things that originally made me HAPPY were no longer giving me the joy that they once did.

And I started to make some changes.....

And then 2 events happened and I was no longer HAPPY and became very sad.....

In the beginning of December, I found out that my dear friend, Lisa, was moving to Mass. from Pa.

Several days later, I received the news that one of my other dear friends, Rose Marie,
had lost her long time battle with cancer.....

I became very upset and very sad.......

I said Good Bye to 2 of my friends on the same day at Rose Marie's Funeral which Lisa attended before she moved away.

I am full of Regret........

You may question why I am regretful......

I regret that I did not make more of an effort to spend more TIME with these 2 wonderful people who had graced my life.

And now, the chance has passed and I will never be able to get it back.

So this event and several other things through out the year has caused me to STOP for a moment and reflect on what my life is like and what I want it to be like in the future.

I had felt during the year that I was burning the candle at both ends, so to speak. That my life was spinning past me at the speed of light.........

So one of my decisions to change this was to "retire" from running our Biannual Church Flea Market which had become a second job for me. One full time job is more than enough. Having to take 2 weeks vacation a year to run this event was also too much........

I also did not participate in our church's annual Harvest Tea where I decorated 2 theme Tables for 20 guests. Again, I loved doing this event but it was extremely Labor Intensivc. And again, I had to take several vacation days to be part of this event.

So I guess what I am trying to say is after much thought, I have chosen my One Little Word that will guide me through 2012.

Did you catch it when I mentioned it several times in this post???

TIME is my One Little Word for 2012!!

Now you may think that is a strange word to pick but I feel that I need to make some changes in my life , to slow it down ....

So I can take the TIME to be with the people that I really want to be with and have the TIME to do the things that I really want to do.

All of this was no one's fault but my own.

5 years ago, after hearing that word, CANCER, I was afraid that my TIME had run out. So I threw myself into doing all the things that I had wanted to accomplish before I had no more TIME left. This was not a bad thing and I learned a lot about myself and what I was capable of.

One of those things was that I could establish a little Craft Business and that people would really buy the things that I created!

Who would have thought????

But then I realized that the things I wanted to accomplish were robbing me of TIME to do new things and accomplish more.

Robbing me of TIME to spend with people who are so important to me.....

Robbing me of TIME where I did not feel stressed out to the max and crazy....

Robbing me of TIME where I felt calm, at ease and not under tremendous pressure.....

So TIME is going to be the word that I will look to to guide me in 2012.

I will be searching for ways to spend my TIME more efficiently, not to waste TIME, not to miss a chance at taking the TIME to do something that I may never get to do again.

Spending TIME with family and friends, doing fun things....

Taking TIME out for me!

You see, ME, was my second choice for my One Little Word for 2012. I know it may sound like a very selfish word but think about it......

How many of us concentrate on ourselves , or on "ME" ?????

Most of us do not. I am at that stage of life where my children have grown and are on their own and I do not have any grandchildren so I think this is the perfect TIME in my life to concentrate a bit on ME.

I do so hope to spend more TIME in my Craft room creating things that will make me HAPPY
( 2011 word again).

And I hope to be able to take TIME to go back to sewing like I did in High School....

But most of all, I hope to spend more TIME with the people who make me HAPPY.

I also hope to let you all in on my journey in creating more TIME for ME in 2012 so I will be posting about it from TIME to TIME!!!

LOL!!

Need Help with a new Camera!!!

YIKES!!!

My new camera which is only 6 months old has died. Well, I can take pictures but I cannot delete pictures or download them to the computer!!

I have to send it into Kodak for repair which may take weeks!!!

I am thinking of buying a new one and getting this one fixed too.

SOoooooooo........

Any suggestions on another camera? I can't afford one that would be more than about $150 - $175.

I could use your help.....

I also want to thank all of your for your prayers for my dear friend, Rose Marie.

It is hard when a good friend passes away but when it is so close to Christmas, it is a heart breaking loss for her family and friends.

But she did love Christmas and loved to decorate her home and just 2 years ago, in her 70's, she still put up 5 Christmas trees.

She was a True Victorian Soul and I always admired her and was inspired by her.

With a Heavy Heart

It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you that my dear friend, Rose Marie, has passed away.

She truly was one of the most elegant women that I ever knew. She sold Victorian Style crafts under the name of Victorian Rose.

Her husband, Joe, who was always at her side, called me today to tell me that our Victorian Rose was no longer with us.

She fought a long hard battle against breast cancer that had spread to her bones and other places for the past 27 years.

And she did it with such grace and dignity.

I would truly appreciate it if you would keep her wonderful family in your prayers.

I hope all of you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving Day weekend!!

Did you go shopping on Black Friday??

I used to go but it has really gotten crazy anymore with people camping out in front of stores 2 days before!!
There is nothing I need that badly that I would be fighting crowds like that. I did go out to A.C.Moore and Michael's on Saturday morning and there was no one out shopping at that time!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY!!

Many of you know that I am a HUGE Lady GaGa fan!

She just opened a Christmas exhibit/store that takes up the entire 5th floor in Barney's of New York.
Barney's has agreed to donate 25% of the profits to Lady GaGa and her mother's foundation, The Born This Way Foundation, which promotes kindness and is anti-bullying!!

No matter what you may think of her, Lady GaGa is just an Italian girl from New York who loves her family dearly.
She is one of the only stars that gives 50 % of her profits to her parent's who still live in the same house and so does she, when she is in New York.

Please tune in to ABC tonight to watch her Thanksgiving Day Special and I promise you that you will be pleasantly surprised!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

I hope you spend Thanks giving with those you love and have a wonderful day!!

I am working Wednesday which is considered the Holiday on night shift but I will be off Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

I will be cooking Thanksgiving dinner for myself, Joe , Joey , Jim and Danielle so I will be spending the day with those I love and my family is the most important thing in my life!!

I have started to share our home decorated for Christmas with all of you over at my Christmas blog, A Debbie Dabble Christmas.

I did a Craft Fair this past weekend.

I only do 2 a year because with working full time, that is about all I can handle.

I sold 10 wreaths in 2 shows and I am amazed!

This year's Craft Fairs were the second best that I have ever done. I also have a few special orders to do so I am very pleased with how things went!!

I have talked about returning to sell on Ebay and maybe in the coming year, I may seriously think about becoming a seller again.

So stay tuned......

Last night , we went to see GUNS and ROSES with our oldest son, Joey!!
They played for 3 straight hours. But since Guns and Roses did not come out on the stage until
11 pm, we did not get home until 2 am!! We are not used to staying out that late!!

LOL!!

CANCER FREE!!!!!

I just wanted to let all of my Blogger friends who thought of me and said a prayer ,that I had my cancer follow up cystoscope today and I remain CANCER FREE!!

I have hit the 5 year mark so I will not need any more scopes unless there is a problem.
I will have to go to my urologist once a year and a urine specimen will be sent for a new test that can detect cancer cells in the urine from the bladder, kidney or ureters.

If you have flank pain or notice blood in your urine, see your Doctor.

If I had not gone to the ED with right sided flank pain 5 years ago, the tumor in my right ureter would have gone undetected. Because I did go to the ED and an obstruction was noted in the right ureter on a CAT scan, the tumor was detected very early. They thought it was a kidney stone.
My Urologist was able to lazor it out and it was completely encapsulated which meant that I did not need chemo or radiation since it was Stage One Squamous Cell Carcinoma. If it had been any larger, I would have had to have had my right kidney removed.

You can only imagine how grateful I am to have been giving the Gift of Time!

THE CHRISTMAS DECORATING HAS BEGUN!!!!

Yes, the Christmas decorating has begun!!

I have also changed the look of Debbie-Dabble to reflect the Holiday season!!

My new Header picture is the top shelf of a shelf unit in my Craft Room.

I have had the entire upstairs decorated for some time now but I still have to wait to share it with you because there are now boxes all over the place upstairs......

I am off all this week and it will be a hectic week.

We needed to repair our platform that we use under the Living Room tree because last year, I put my foot through it. Hey....my Dad did build it 34 years ago!!

Joe reinforced it with ply wood and now I have to recover it with white felt......

Today, I start the Dining Room. This is how I store my larger trees down in our Storage Shed.

Joe stopped at Burger King for supper on his way home with the tree yesterday and the girl in the Drive Thru commented that it looked like he had a body in the back. He said that "you never know " but told me not to unwrap the tree until today in case she wrote down his license number and sent the police to our house.........

Some new goodies for the Kitchen that I bought at J.C. Penney's .....

This cupboard is just begging for a Christmas make over.......

Last year I bought these tubes of shatter proof balls at Target for 75% off at 25 cents a tube!

Yes, yesterday, since it was almost 60 degrees here in Pa. , we decorated the outside of the house!!
Our tradition is to have the outside completely decorated by Thanksgiving and on Thanksgiving Day night, we light the house for the first time , starting the Holiday season!

I have a few finishing touches to add today. I did not get it finished yesterday.
All I will say is that is has to do with lights and Joe packing away the lights for the first time last year....
UGH!!!!

Paterno Fired!!

Yes , there is unrest in the state of Penna. today!

But was justice served with the firing of Joe Paterno?????

In my humble opinion, I say YES!!!!

If it was your child that was assaulted in a locker room , wouldn't you have wanted Joe Paterno to have gone to the Police and reported the incident after he realized that the President of Penn State University was not going to do anything about it???

As a mother of 2 sons, YES!! I would have wanted him to go to the Police and not to have remained silent.
He should be ashamed of himself because I can only wonder how many more children were molested that should not have been if the proper authorities would have been notified.

I feel that Joe Paterno should have retired years ago and now instead of leaving with dignity, he leaves in disgrace and all of his records will be forgotten and all that will be remembered is that he was fired in disgrace!

Yes, justice was served!!

I find it so upsetting that Americans place such importance on sports and sports figures.....

And I also believe that all who are arrested for rioting should be kicked out of school!

That's my opinion!!

CLEARANCE SALES and CRAFT FAIR

First I would like to show you some recent Clearance finds!

At Wegman's Grocery Store, Joe picked up this cute Bearington Bear for me at 75 % off.

Did I ever mention that Joe does the Food shopping and always has....

He also picked up these hand lights for 88% off!!

And this witches hat for 93% off....

Weird percentages , huh??

Both were slightly over $1.00 each.

I bought this black house at Target for 50% off...

These were from Micheal's at 70% off.....

Micheal's has been running some special pre Black Friday sales on certain days...

Last week I went through all of my Crafted items so I could get ready for the Craft Fair that I did last weekend...

Many of you ask when I sleep. Well, here is an example of my schedule. I woke up at 5:30 am on Sat. morning , did the Craft Fair, packed up and came home and went to bed from 6pm - 9:15pm, got up and went to work, had to work 9 hours because of setting the clocks back and then came home Sunday morning and crawled into bed and died!!

I figure I will sleep in my next life time!

And here is a bow that I made .......

On Friday, November 11, we will be going to see Trans Siberian Orchestra!!
This is a Christmas tradition for us....

I will then be off from work for the next week. During that week, I plan on getting most of the down stairs decorated for Christmas.

I also have my yearly Cystoscope scheduled on November 15th.
This is my check up after having a cancerous tumor removed from my right ureter. . This is my 5th year and depending on the findings from the scope, it may be my last time that I will need to be scoped.
So if you think of me, say a little prayer.....

Because of all of this and another Craft Fair in 2 weeks, I will be taking a bit of a blogging break.

When I return, I hope to be able to start showing pictures of our home decorated for Christmas.
I will then be posting most of the time on my Christmas blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas
